During WW2 life was hard for most with clothes and food rationing, the constant dread of receiving news of a lost loved one, and of course the bombing. Everyone trying to find their own way of coping. During the air raids, many sought protection in their cellars as well as the public shelters.
Irene and her husband lived in Fareham, about sixty miles southwest of London after moving down from Scotland. Here is a short story of how one of Irene’s regular visits to see her sister turned into a close encounter.
There are some things that just cannot be explained.
